Sometimes we need to understand computer-eze (geek terminology) computer terms:
DOMAIN NAME: aka Domain. This is the name of your website.
DNS - Domain Name Server (points your website to our servers).
IP - Internet Protocol (your internet "phone number").
POP3 - email term for mail stored on our server until you access it then it is download to your device - then removed from our server).
IMAP - email term for mail stored and remains on our server until you delete it (can be accessed from any of your devices).
WEBMAIL - You can access your emails from a variety of apps. This is the browser app that is included for free with every Hostica account.
CP - Control Panel. This is where you manage your account with Hostica.
HSHEPER - Hostica (old) control panel.
CPANEL - Hostica (new) hosting control panel. Integrates with WHMCS.
WHMCS - Hostica (new) billing control panel. Integrates with CPANEL.
PACKAGES - WHMCS now uses the term "packages" to host your website and email.
SSL - Security Certificate for both website and email.
SUBDOMAIN - Your website is typically in the form of www.hostica.com or just hostica.com (no need for the http// or the www part any longer - they are optional). The subdomain allows you to create a separate website without purchasing another domain name. Ex: help.hostica.com is a subdomain.
ALIAS - An alias allows you to take one domain and "point" it at another domain.
Ex: hostica.org as an alias would show the website at hostica.com but display the hostica.org address in the browser.
REDIRECT - A redirect allows you to take one domain and "redirect" the visitor to another domain.
Ex: hostica.org as a redirect would show the website at hostica.com and display the hostica.com address in the browser.
